Florida Jr. Panthers Finish As Runner-Up In 2011 USA Hockey National Championship

SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Jr. Panthers U16AA team, which plays out of the Iceplex in Coral Springs, was the runner-up at the 2011 USA Hockey National Championship in Virginia.

The Jr. Panthers finished the tournament with a 4-2 record and fell in the championship game to the Mid State Mustangs.
In game one the Jr. Panthers defeated the Rhode Island Saints 3-2 in overtime. In game two the Jr. Panthers topped the Manchester NH Flames 4-2. In the final game of the preliminary round the Jr. Panthers lost 2-1 to the Affton Americans, before avenging that loss with a 3-2 double overtime win in the semifinals, after beating the Ashburn Extreme 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
The entire Florida Panthers organization would like to extend its congratulations to the Jr. Panthers for proving themselves as one of the top travel hockey programs in the country.
