Fan Appreciation Weekend Concludes Today

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced that Friday’s Cats-Washington Capitals game and Sunday’s final regular season home game vs. the Carolina Hurricanes will be part of Fan Appreciation Weekend at the BankAtlantic Center.

“Our fans have been behind us all season long,” Cats Captain Olli Jokinen said. “They are an important part of our success at home and we want to show them that we appreciate all of their support and we can’t wait to see them back next season.”

As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, the Panthers Foundation will host their annual “Shirts Off Our Backs” auction during Sunday’s game against Carolina. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the silent auction to bid on game worn jerseys from their favorite Panthers players during the first two periods of play. The auction winners will then be escorted on to the ice after the conclusion of the game where each player will take the jersey off his back, autograph it and present it to the winning fan. Photos will be taken of each fan with their player and sent to the winners. Fans are encouraged to stay for the presentation, as players will be throwing t-shirts and other prizes to fans following the game.

In addition, the Panthers organization and many of its marketing partners will be giving out prizes to fans all weekend long including: gift baskets, golf packages, gift certificates, t-shirts, I-pods, jewelry, roundtrip airfare and more.

Fan Appreciation Weekend is part of the Panthers All Access Program, which has put Cats players face-to-face with fans all season long.

The Panthers are doing their best to thank their fans for making the 2006-07 season a successful one. Thanks in large part to big, emotional crowds at the BankAtlantic Center, the Cats are 21-12-5 at home this season, including a 6-2-2 mark in their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, South Florida hockey fans have turned out in force to support their Cats down the stretch, averaging 15,845 fans per game since Feb. 1, including five crowds of over 17,000. All totaled, over 205,000 fans have seen a Panthers game live at the BankAtlantic Center since the beginning of February.

After last night’s 5-2 road win over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, the Panthers are home for three straight games at the BankAtlantic Center against the Atlanta Thrashers (Wed. March 27), Washington Capitals (Fri. March 30) and Carolina Hurricanes (Sun. April 1). Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 954-835-PUCK.
