David Perron Bio

Central Scouting Final Ranking: No. 10

There seems to be little question about Perron’s talent. But no one is quite sure where to place him come the Entry Draft. Central Scouting has him ranked No. 10 (up from 18 at the Mid-Term), but he’s No. 15 with International Scouting Services and No. 31 with The Hockey News.

Perron led all rookies in goals scored (39) and plus/minus (Plus-37) in the Quebec Major Junior and was second in points (83) during the regular season. Not bad for for undrafted high school kid.

The Hockey News says Perron gets physically manhandled. Central Scouting says his skating diminishes at the end of shifts and he needs to improve the effectiveness of his body checking.

Now for the good from Central Scouting: “A hard working skilled forward. Very smart defensively and forces the play with his tenacious forechecking. His quick stick and quick hands often catch defenders by surprise.”

A native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Perron patterns his game after Alexei Kovalev and his favorite movie as ‘The Rocket.’
