Dancers Dialogue: Celebrating Five Years

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
A new feature for, the Panthers Ice Dancers will be posting their thoughts throughout the year in their blog Dancers Dialogue. A different girl will fill everyone in on what's going on with the hottest dance team on the Ice.

Hi Panther Fans. I’m Allie. You may remember me as one of your very own Panthers Ice Dancers from 2006-2008.

I thought I would write a little something and let you know what your PID Alumni have been up to these days. Since my years as an Ice Dancer, I’ve graduated from college with my BA and I am currently working for a Country Club in Boca handling special events.

I had heard rumors of a Panthers Ice Dancers Reunion game and absolutely could not wait to see everyone again. Considering it’s the 5-year Anniversary of the Panthers Ice Dancers, it was the best year to do it. When I got the official invitation to participate, I was extremely excited. I couldn’t wait to catch up with all the girls and of course, to see all of you – our fans!

We had a very short time to learn our routine; only two days to be exact. Our first rehearsal fell on a Saturday and was so much fun. You know the feeling when you go back to school after summer vacation and it feels like you never left? This was the same. All the girls welcomed each other with big smiles, hugs and a few high-pitched screams at our first rehearsal. Laid out on the table was a flashback of all the seasons. Our uniforms, team posters and calendars dating all the way back to 2006 were lined up next to each other. It was fun to see how things have progressed throughout the years.

We spent the first portion of rehearsal mingling with the Ice Dancers Alumni from 2006-2009 and it was really great to meet some of the girls from other seasons that I did not have the opportunity to dance with. After we introduced ourselves and laughed about our favorite memories, it was time to get to work. The song selection for our performance could not have been more perfect with its first lyrics, "I’ve been gone for too long, think it’s time I bring it back". Kelli and Nichole taught our dance routine and I must say, I was a little rusty.

By our second rehearsal I had the routine down and was ready to practice on stage. It was quite an interesting task trying to fit 20 girls on our stage in section 127 but we managed. During this rehearsal we had a meet and greet with the current Ice Dancers. We were even able to watch the dancers rehearse on ice and I am so proud to see how far the team has come. I was nervous just watching them out on the ice. These girls are beautiful, talented dancers and it’s truly amazing to watch them perform. No wonder we’re the best dance team in the NHL!

Finally the day was here - game day. All of the dancers arrived to get our makeup done by the Academy of Glam. After we were done getting pampered, we went upstairs for a quick run through on stage and then we headed into our old locker room which was reserved for Alumni only (sorry 2011 PID.). Kelli and Nichole did a great job decorating the locker room to really make all of us feel welcomed and appreciated. Each girl received a top with their name and the year they started on the back. We put our finishing touches on our hair and makeup and headed upstairs to watch the game.

For old time’s sake, we did a T-shirt toss while Bill Murphy introduced all of us one by one. Then the lights dimmed and it was show time. There is truly nothing more thrilling than performing on stage in front of all of you.

After our performance, we celebrated in the locker room with cake and champagne.

Celebrating like old times

It was so great to be reunited with the girls and I can't wait for next year’s Panthers Ice Dancers 6th-Year Anniversary!

In case you missed the celebration, here is the video of our performance!

Until next time…

Xo, Allie
