In today's topic, we take a closer look at captain Bryan McCabe in our Top 10 Players To Watch this season.

Last season was a tough one for everyone in the organization. After losing out on the playoffs on a tiebraker to the Montreal Canadiens during the 2008-09 season, the Panthers regressed and took several steps back in finishing with just 77 points.

And it seems that no one took it harder than McCabe.

When asked what was the most difficult thing about last season for him personally, he answered it bluntly.

"Just not being able to take that next step as a team," said the captain. "I feel like I let the guys down and for me being one of the leaders on the team, it's my job to have the guys prepared and ready and to perform every night and we didn't do that.

"I think that's a big thing that I put pressure on myself in taking this team to the playoffs and the next level."

Playing in his second year with the Panthers, McCabe played in all 82 games. He also recorded 35 assists and 43 points good enough for second and tied for third respectively on the team. His eight goals were seven less than the year before however and he recorded just three power play goals, five less than the season before.

Entering his 15th season in the NHL, McCabe has put up an impressive resume, recording 500 points in 1,068 games, but he hasn't been a part of the playoffs since the 2003-04 season. Finally making the second season is something that he thinks the Panthers can do, this season.

"It's our job to do the work on the ice and be one of the hardest working teams in the league," said McCabe. "That's our goal. If we do that, we'll be successful and we will make the playoffs."

That's why McCabe is a player to watch as he hopes to have a more successful second season as Panthers captain by leading this team to the second season.
