2010 Calder Cup Playoffs: First Round
Heat Win Series 4-3
There is no tomorrow for the Rochester Americans.
Down 3-1 in the first round series, Abbotsford completed the comeback as they won 2-0 in Game 7 Tuesday night in Rochester, sending the Amerks home early for the summer.
It was a disappointing end to what started out as a great season and a great series.
All they needed was just one victory in the final three games of the North Division Semifinals. But unfortunately they couldn't find it.
The Heat became the first team in AHL history to start a series down 3-1 and then rally to win three straight games, with Games 6 and 7 on the road.
Abbotsford scored the game's first goal when John Lammers one-timed a shot past Tyler Plante 12:58 into the first. It would be all they needed as former Panther prospect/Amerk David Shantz stopped all 20 Rochester shots in the game.
The Heat got an insurance goal as Olivier Latendresse found himself on a breakaway after an Amerk miscue. The shot beate Plante high-glove side at 6:36 of the second.
Abbotsford outshot Rochester 40-24 in the game. That included a 17-3 advantage in the first period.Notes:
Abbotsford scored the first goal of the game for the sixth time in the seven games of the series...Clay Wilson and Jordan Henry led the Amerks with three shots a piece...Abbotsford finished 0 for 4 on the power play while Rochester ended the game 0 for two..
