by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers RW Nathan Horton will make a guest appearance at Christmas in July, an annual event held at the BankAtlantic Center from 1-2 p.m on Saturday, July 21.

Christmas in July brings together more than 1,000 Broward County homeless children, who will receive clothing, shoes, book bags, school supplies, and toys, giving them a chance to enjoy a day away from the harsh reality of being homeless. This year’s event at the BankAtlantic Center features interactive games, food, entertainment, an appearance by Stanley C. Panther, and a special visit by Santa Claus, who is vacationing in South Florida.

“Christmas in July is such a wonderful event. It brings smiles to the faces of some of the most magnificent children in South Florida,” Alaina Miller, Executive Director of the Panthers Foundation said. “It’s a special day and we are pleased to be hosting it once again.”

Christmas In July helps prepare homeless children for the upcoming school year. Kiwanis Division 23 and 24 in conjunction with the Broward County Board of Commissioners and the Florida Panthers Foundation is working hard to bring joy to these children’s hearts, while preparing them for the upcoming school year. Currently there are more than 3,000 children enrolled in the Broward County school system.

The Florida Panthers Foundation mission is to assist non-profit organizations which focus on healthcare, education and cultural needs of children and families through corporate partnerships, philanthropic grants and unique resources.   Through teamwork, interaction and dedication, the Florida Panthers Foundation works to bring together a wealth of talent on and off the ice to build a better future for the people of South Florida.

The Florida Panthers 2007-08 season is presented by the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Sunrise Sports & Entertainment is the premier company of its kind in South Florida. Home to more than 185 events annually and the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, the BankAtlantic Center is consistently a top 15 worldwide venue according to Pollstar. The BankAtlantic Center welcomes more than two million guests each year and is also the home of the Sinatra Theatre presented by BankAtlantic and three monthly South Florida publications: Live On Stage Credentials, Unrestricted and Panthers Insider.
