Cats Take Forward With Pick 100

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
With the 100th pick, the Panthers selected A.J. Jenks, a 6-2, left winger from the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Jenks had 26 goals and 29 assists in 66 games last season. He was a member of Team USA at the ’07 Hlinka Tournament in Slovakia. Central Scouting, which ranked Jenks No. 50 in its final ranking, says Jenks possesses an upside and hits top speed “remarkably quick.”

Consistency The Question For Jenks

Plymouth coach Greg Stefan said; “As a coach, sometimes you forget that A.J.’s only 17 years old. A.J., is definitely going to be a National Hockey League player one day. He’s got good size and probably has one of the best shots in the league, from a wrist shot or snap-shot perspective. He needs to work on his lateral movement and stops and starts, but that will come with experience.”
