Cats Recall C Janis Sprukts and RW Anthony Stewart from Rochester (AHL)

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers general manager and head coach Jacques Martin announced today that the club has recalled C Janis Sprukts and RW Anthony Stewart from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Sprukts, 25, is making his second call-up to the Panthers this season. He played in one game during his first call-up in October. In four preseason games with the Cats, Sprukts scored one goal. Sprukts has played in 25 games with Rochester, scoring seven goals and 20 assists. He has the second highest point total on the Americans roster.

Stewart, 21, will be making his first trip up to the Panthers this season. Last year, Stewart appeared in 10 games with the Cats scoring two goals and one assist. In 24 games with Rochester this season, Stewart has five goals and seven assists.

Both players are scheduled to meet the Panthers in Toronto this afternoon and are eligible to play tonight when the Cats take on the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and can be seen on FSN-Florida. The Panthers return home Thursday night to take on the New York Rangers at 7:30 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center.
