Prior to puck drop on Saturday night, Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester was awarded Defensive Player of the Month for November as voted by the fans. While the presentation praised his defense, Bouwmeester and the rest of the Panthers couldn't contest the Thrashers as Atlanta skated to a 3-1 victory Saturday night.
The Panthers were able to put up their first goal in the last four games when the puck rolled off Captain Olli Jokinen and into the net. The play was set up by Ville Peltonen. Peltonen almost tallied his second assist on the night when he fed a pass to Gregory Campbell on a 2-on-1 break with the Panthers short handed in the third period. Campbell was dragged down and awarded a penalty shot, though he did not convert. The Thrashers added an empty net goal in the closing minutes to give them the game Thrashers a 5-0 record on the season against Florida.
