Cats and Coffee: Bjugy's a Beauty

Good morning and welcome to "Cats & Coffee," a weekly segment presented by Community Coffee in which we get you caffeinated with an exciting look at the week ahead for the Florida Panthers.
There is no offseason in Minnesota.

Da Beauty League, a 4-on-4 hockey league made up of many local NHL players and top amateurs, kicked off its sophomore season last week, with Blaine, Minn. native and Florida Panthers center Nick Bjugstad lacing up his skates in order to help raise money for charity.
Based out of Braemar Arena in Edina, Minn., Da Beauty League will run every Wednesday in July and Mondays and Wednesdays in August until the playoffs begin Aug. 21 with the championship Aug. 23.
There are six Beauty League teams captained by NHL's stars Paul Martin (San Jose Sharks), Dustin Byfuglien (Winnipeg Jets), Ryan McDonagh (New York Rangers), Alex Goligoski (Arizona Coyotes), Brock Nelson (New York Islanders) and current free agent Drew Stafford, who was named the tournament's MVP last season.
In Week 1, Bjugstad had one goal in Team RBC's 6-4 win over Team Walser.

Established in the Fall of 2015, Da Beauty League's champion will receive the John Scott Cup, named for the most valuable player of the 2016 NHL All-Star Game who, according to their website, also serves as the league's "very part-time honorary commissioner."
All proceeds from the tournament go to charity, including the United Heroes League, which helps provide hockey equipment, game tickets, cash grants and funding for summer camps to military families in the U.S. and Canada.

WELCOME TO THE ROAR CORPS

ROAR Corps auditions for the 2017-18 season were held over the weekend, with plenty of high-energy hockey fans flooding the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Sunrise for tryouts and callbacks.

As the official "energy team" of the Panthers, the ROAR Corps will be all over the BB&T Center during the upcoming season, energizing the crowd, throwing t-shirts, scraping the ice and executing in-game promotions on game nights. On non-game days, the ROAR Corps are always also always out in the community lending a helping hand at special events, watch parties and more.
