The Florida Panthers announced today that defenseman Brian Campbell
has been named to the roster for the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa, Ont., on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. ET. Other festivities during the All-Star weekend include the 2012 Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m., where the players will be drafted into teams for the weekend, and the 2012 Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.
Campbell makes his fourth career NHL All-Star appearance as he enjoys his first season with Florida. The Strathroy, Ont., native, who had 27 points (5-22-27) in 65 games last season, has already surpassed that mark with 33 points in 42 games. Campbell’s 30 assists are tied for third-most among all NHL players this year, while also leading the NHL in power-play assists (18) and ranking fifth among all players in ice time per game (26:17). The 32-year-old has totaled four separate three-game point streaks this year and currently has totaled six assists in his last six games.
Campbell had an assist in the 2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal representing the Chicago Blackhawks. He notched three points (1-2-3) in the 2008 NHL All-Star Game in Atlanta and was a starter at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game in Dallas while playing for the Buffalo Sabres.
