Central Scouting Final Ranking: No. 28

Dropped to 28th in the final Central Scouting rankings after being ranked No. 9 at the mid-term mark, but, hey, has there ever been a bad hockey player from this Sutter family?

Son of former NHL star Brent Sutter and the nephew of Duane Sutter, the Panthers’ director of player development, Brandon Sutter was an assistant captain of Red Deer in his second full season. Central Scouting calls him a “skilled forward that is opportunistic in the offensive end.”

Smart with the puck with excellent puck pursuit and work ethic, Sutter “sometimes tires at the end of (a) shift and needs to work on his conditioning,” according to Central Scouting.

Sutter was one of three under-age players on the 2006 gold medal-winning Team Canada at the Junior World Cup. He wears No. 12 because his dad and uncles wore the number. He says his dad has been his biggest influence because he “taught me everything I know about the game.”

The three people he’d like to have dinner with: Bobby Orr, actress Rachel McAdams and country singer Kenny Chesney.
