SUNRISE, FL – USA hockey announced today that Florida Panthers LW David Booth has been invited to attend the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Orientation Camp from Aug. 17-19, at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, Ill. The camp is designed to assist in the preparation of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team that will compete at the XXI Olympic Winter Games to be held from Feb. 12-28, 2010, in Vancouver, B.C.

“It is a great honor to be asked to attend Team USA’s Olympic Orientation Camp,” said Booth. “It is my ultimate goal to represent my country and earn a spot on Team USA’s roster for the 2010 Winter Olympics. I look forward to attending the camp and will work hard both on and off the ice in order to earn my chance to represent Team USA on the international stage.”

Booth, 24, recorded career-highs in goals (31), assists (29) and points (60) last season, becoming just the sixth player in franchise history to score at least 30 goals in one season. He also recorded a career-high and led the team with 246 shots on goal, as well as a career-best 11 power play goals. Booth also became just one of four Panthers players – Pavel Bure, Olli Jokinen and Ray Sheppard – to net two hat tricks in one season, with three-goal games at Anaheim on Nov. 9 and versus St. Louis on March 7. He also posted a career-high eight-game point scoring streak (6-7-13) from Dec. 27-Jan. 10 and notched a career high five points (2-3-5) in Florida’s regular season finale 7-4 win over Washington on Apr. 11.

On the international level, Booth has twice competed for Team USA at the World Championships (‘07, ‘08), while also representing his native country at the 2003-04 World Junior Championships. Prior to playing his college hockey at Michigan State, he spent the 2001-02 campaign playing for the United States National Development Team.

The Detroit, Mich. native has played in 193 career NHL games, all with Florida, scoring 56 goals with 54 assists and 76 PIM. He was originally drafted by Florida with its third choice (53rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
