As a most passionate Florida Panthers fan, I understand how difficult a time this is for all Cats fans and other hockey fans around the NHL.
While we remain optimistic that our Panthers will open the 2012-13 season as planned on Oct. 13, I also want to assure you that the work stoppage will not deter our organization from fulfilling its responsibilities to our fans and our community. In fact, we will use this challenging time as an opportunity to be even more active in South Florida, and offer even more special events and experiences for our incredible fans.
It will begin with our new “I Love Panthers Hockey” campaign and RED Fridays, where our entire staff will be getting out in the community and assisting local organizations such as schools, charities, museums and more.
In addition, we are encouraging fans to continue showing their Panthers pride by rewarding individuals “caught” wearing Cats gear in the community, and selling “I Love Panthers Hockey” kits with proceeds going to support the Panthers Foundation and the fight against pediatric cancer.
We will not be stopping there, with plans to bring a number of unique fan events and more concerts and shows to the newly named BB&T Center.
Certainly we know that nothing can recreate the excitement of live Panthers hockey, particularly when our lasting memory is of an incredible seven-game playoff series against the Eastern Conference champion New Jersey Devils. But that isn’t going to stop our staff from showcasing the love and pride that exists for our franchise.
Thank you to all of our loyal and passionate fans, we are looking forward to seeing you out in the community in the coming weeks, and to celebrating with you when we unveil our Southeast Division Championship banner on Panthers Opening Night.
