American Airlines presents "NHL Salute to a Generation of Stars"

NEW YORK – As part of the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, American Airlines will serve as the title sponsor of "NHL Salute to a Generation of Stars," held on Monday, January 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. This salute, hosted by Academy Award-winning actor and long-time hockey fan Cuba Gooding, Jr., will serve as a showcase of two generations of hockey players: those who dominated and those inspired by their greatness. This presentation will follow open practices of the 2007 Eastern and Western All-Star teams, presented by Verizon Yellow Pages.

NHL legends scheduled to appear include: 19-time All-Star Ray Bourque; Hockey Hall of Famer and three-time Norris Trophy winner Paul Coffey; top-scoring U.S.-born skater Phil Housley; 1999 Stanley Cup winner with the Dallas Stars Brett Hull; Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux; Olympic Gold Medalist and 13-time All-Star Al MacInnis; six-time Stanley Cup winner and 16-time All-Star Mark Messier; Hockey Hall of Famer Larry Murphy; four-time All-Star Joe Nieuwendyk; five-time All-Star Adam Oates and eight-time All-Star Luc Robitaille.

Fans will have the opportunity to preview the players of the Eastern and Western teams. Each team will conduct an open practice while their coaches describe the drills live from the ice. In addition, tributes to the stars from yesterday will speak to their experience in hockey and the impact they have made on the game.

Tickets to the American Airlines NHL Salute to a Generation of Stars will go on sale Saturday, January 13 at 9 a.m. CT. Fans may purchase tickets ($60 downstairs, $25 upstairs) on-line at, or by calling 214-GO-STARS (214-467-8277).

Tickets to the American Airlines "NHL Salute to a Generation of Stars" with open practices presented by Verizon Yellow Pages will be available at Dallas Metroplex JC Penney locations starting Saturday, January 13 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Customers who purchase $50 of NHL or NHL All-Star merchandise will be eligible to purchase one or two pairs of tickets to this exclusive event. Tickets are $25 each and will be available at JCPenney locations throughout Texas, including Mesquite, Arlington, Dallas, Frisco, Plano, Cedar Hill and Lewisville. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, hosted by the American Airlines Center in Dallas, will feature live national broadcasts of the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event on Tuesday, January 23, and the NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, January 24 on VERSUS in the United States and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 8 p.m., ET. NASN, the NHL's exclusive broadcast partner in Europe, will provide live coverage of the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event and the NHL All-Star Game to more than 25 countries and territories in Europe. NHL RADIO on Westwood One will provide exclusive, national radio coverage in the United States and Canada, while Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio each will provide radio play-by-play coverage of the game.
