A Look Ahead Jan. 19 - 25

In this week's Look Ahead, the Cats host the Canucks twelve days after defeating them 3-1 in Vancouver and two Panthers players will take to the ice in Columbus for NHL All-Star Weekend.


- Florida is one overtime win away from their 100th overtime victory in franchise history.

- F Nick Bjugstad is one goal away from tying his career-high for goals in a season (16).

- F Tomas Fleischmann is four points away from reaching his 300th career point.

- G Roberto Luongo set to play in NHL All-Star Game.

- D Aaron Ekblad is set to participate in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition.

The Cats downed the Canucks 3-1 on Jan. 8 in Vancouver. G Roberto Luongo returned to Vancouver for the first time since being traded to Florida on Mar. 4, 2014. Earning a win, a standing ovation and first star honors for stopping 32 of 33 shots against his former team. The win also marked a new milestone for Luongo as he has now beaten all 30 NHL teams.


- F Daniel Sedin has recorded eight points (4-4—8) in 13 career games against FLA.

- F Henrik Sedin has recorded 14 points (2-12—14) in 14 career games against FLA.

- F Radim Vrbata has recorded ten points (6-4—10) in 19 career games against FLA.

- G Eddie Lack owns a 1-0-0 record in one career game against FLA.

- G Ryan Miller owns a 14-11-2 record with two shutouts in 27 career games against FLA.


- F Aleksander Barkov has recorded two points (1-1—2) in two career games against VAN. Barkov notched the game-winning goal in the most recent meeting between the two clubs.

- F Brad Boyes has recorded 20 points (9-11— 20) in 23 career games against VAN.

- F Jimmy Hayes has recorded two goals (2--0— 2) in three career games against VAN.

- F Jonathan Huberdeau has recorded three points (2-1—3) in three career games against VAN. Huberdeau reached a season-high three points (2-1—3) against VAN in the two clubs' last meeting.

- F Jussi Jokinen has recorded ten points (2-8—10) in 16 career games against VAN.

- G Roberto Luongo owns a 1-1-1 record in four career games against VAN.

- Florida G Roberto Luongo played 448 games for Vancouver (2006-14) owning a 252-137-50 record and recording 38 shutouts. Luongo led the Canucks to a 2011 Western Conference Championship and won the William M. Jennings Trophy for his play in the 2010-11 season. Luongo is the winningest goaltender in Canucks history.

- Florida D Willie Mitchell played 264 games for Vancouver (2006-10), recording 50 points (10-40−50) and a plus-49 rating. Mitchell is a native of Port McNeill, British Columbia.

- Florida General Manager Dale Tallon was selected in the first round (second overall) of the 1970 NHL Draft by Vancouver. Tallon played 222 games for Vancouver (1970-73), recording 137 points (44-93—137).

- Vancouver G Ryan Miller and Florida G Roberto Luongo faced off in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Luongo (Canada) and Miller (USA) were both the starting goalies in the Gold Medal game, which Luongo and Team Canada were able to win in overtime.

For the first time since 2004, Luongo will represent the Panthers at the NHL All-Star Game. Expected to skate in his fourth NHL All-Star Game, the veteran netminder is one of six goalies set to participate. The 18-year old, Ekblad is slated to join the All-Stars on the ice for the NHL All-Star Skills Competition. Ekblad is one of six rookies chosen to participate. The All-Star festivities will take place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
