A Look Ahead Feb. 2 - 8

The Panthers close out the last two games of a three-game road trip with back-to-back contests in New York. Florida then returns home to a three-game homestand where they will face three Western Conference clubs.

- Florida is one OT win away from their 100th overtime victory in franchise history.

- F Brad Boyes is one goal away from his 200th career goal.

- F Nick Bjugstad is one goal away from passing his career-high for goals in a season.

MONDAY'S MATCH-UP

Feb. 2 at New York Rangers (28-15-4)

All-Time Road Record against NY Rangers: 14-22-4-1

The Rangers and Panthers last squared off on New Year's Eve at BB&T Center. The Rangers won the contest 5-2, handing the Cats their first loss in the season series. Florida has had tough luck against the Rangers in recent years. The last win for the Cats against the Rangers was Apr. 23, 2013, as they've dropped four consecutive games to New York.

One of this year's biggest surprise teams, the New York Islanders have been one the top teams in the Eastern Conference this season. The Islanders and Panthers first locked up this season on Nov. 14. The Panthers staged a third period comeback to send the game into overtime, but the Islanders prevailed in a shootout. The Cats are winless in their last two games against the Isles.

The Panthers return home from their road trip to host the 2014 Stanley Cup Champions. The Cats met with the Kings on Nov. 18 in Los Angeles, falling 5-2. Thursday's meeting is the final meeting between the two clubs this season. Florida last beat Los Angeles on Feb. 9, 2012 (3-1). The game also was the last time Florida topped LA at BB&T Center. Both Florida and Los Angeles currently find themselves leading the pack for a Wild Card spot in their respective conferences.

Another team that has taken the league by surprise this season is Nashville. Head Coach Peter Laviolette has turned the Predators into one of the league's top teams this season as they currently sit atop the powerhouse Central Division of the Western Conference. The last time Florida and Nashville met was Nov. 22. The Preds put 50 shots on Roberto Luongo and had a 2-0 lead until 19:17 and 19:29 of the third period. Rocco Grimaldi and Nick Bjugstad scored 12 seconds apart from one another to send the game into overtime. The Cats couldn't solve Pekka Rinne in the extra time and fell to Nashville in the shootout. The Cats and Preds will sqaure off in a matinee match-up at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday.
