Cats Complete December with 7-1-1 Mark Broadcast Changes for Five-Game Road Trip
SUNRISE, Fla. – In front of a sell-out crowd on Friday night at the BankAtlantic Center the Florida Panthers defeated the Montreal Canadiens, 2-1, completing their most recent three-game holiday home stand with a 2-0-1 mark, earning five out of a possible six points, picking up wins over Boston and Montreal, along with a shootout loss to Philadelphia.
The Panthers averaged more than 18,900 fans over the three-game stretch and now sit just six points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. With last night's victory, the Cats completed December with an 8-6-1 mark, including a 7-1-1 record in games played at the BankAtlantic Center, tying a franchise mark for most wins in a month with seven, while posting their first eight win month since January of 2000.
"It was an exciting week of hockey for our fans at the BankAtlantic with three tremendous crowds," said Head Coach Jacques Martin . "These were three very important games for us and I am extremely pleased with our club's performance."
Florida now embarks on a five-game road trip beginning with a New Year's Day contest in Buffalo. The Cats return home on Thursday, Jan. 12 when they face the St. Louis Blues.
