5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panther have posted a 16-7-3 mark since Jan. 1, earning points in 19 of their last 26 games and have not lost back-to-back games in regulation during this span. The Cats currently sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 72 points. After 63 games, Florida (32-23-8) owns their best record since 1999-2000 (34-20-4-5), the last time that the Panthers qualified for the post season. The Panthers play their final game of a five-game road trip this evening against the Atlanta Thrashers. The Cats opened the road trip with a 6-1 loss in Boston on Tuesday, Feb. 24, earned a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the NY Rangers on Thursday, Feb. 26, dropped a 7-2 decision to New Jersey 7-2 on Saturday, Feb. 28 and defeated the Washington Capitals 6-2 on Sunday, Mar. 1.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks third in the NHL averaging 26:59 of ice time per game and ranks 23rd among NHL league leaders with 31 points (12-19-31). He also holds the NHL’s active consecutive games played streak at 322 games played, dating back to the 2003-04 season. Additionally, with his 50th goal of his NHL career on Thursday, Feb. 5, Bouwmeester became just the second Panthers defenseman to record 50 tallies while playing for the Cats, joining Robert Svehla (61).

The Panthers goaltending tandem of Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson ranks seventh in the NHL with 2.64 GAA and place third in the NHL with a .922 save percentage. Additionally, the duo of Vokoun and Anderson has combined for a 9-3-2 record when they face 40 or more shots.

2. C Michael Frolik ranks fifth among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 31 points (15-16-31). In addition, Frolik places fourth among rookie leaders in shots on goal (114) and sixth in rookie goal scoring (15). He recorded the first three point effort (1-2-3) of his NHL career on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in the Panthers 3-2 victory over Philadelphia.

The Panthers place first in the NHL with 11 different players who have recorded at least 10 goals (Booth, Horton, Stillman, Bouwmeester, Campbell, Frolik, McCabe, Zednik, Weiss, Dvorak, Peltonen) and place tied for first in the NHL with 12 different players who have recorded at least 20 points (Booth, Weiss, Horton, Bouwmeester, Stillman, Frolik, Campbell, Dvorak, McCabe, Peltonen, Ballard, Zednik).
