5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panthers begin a four-game homestand this evening against the Buffalo Sabres. During the home stretch the Cats will also play Dallas on Jan. 21, prior to the All-Star break, followed by Philadelphia on Jan. 27 and Montreal on Jan. 29. The Panthers are 5-0-2 in their last seven games earning 12 out of a possible 14 points, while scoring 33 goals over that span.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester, who was named to the 2009 Eastern Conference All-Star team on Thursday, Jan. 8, ranks 2nd in the NHL averaging 27:31 of ice time per game and has 16 points (9-7-16) with a +10 rating in his last 23 games played.

3. C Michael Frolik, who was named to the 2009 Eastern Conference YoungStars on Friday, Jan. 9, ranks 8th among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 20 points (9-11-20). In addition, Frolik places third among rookie leaders in shots on goal (75), 10th in rookie goal scoring (9) and 10th in power play points (6).

2. C Stephen Weiss has recorded 19 points (5-14-19) with a +11 rating in his last 23 games played and places tied for first on the club with 28 points (7-21-28).

1. LW David Booth has recorded 14 points (6-8-14) in his last 12 games played and paces the Panthers with 18 goals. He had a career high eight-game point scoring streak (6-7-13) snapped last night against Philadelphia.
