5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panthers begin a four-game road trip this afternoon beginning with a contest against the NY Islanders. After today's game the Panthers will play games in Pittsburgh (Jan. 3), Montreal (Jan. 4) and Toronto (Jan. 6). After completing the trip, the Cats will play seven of their next nine games in South Florida, with road contests in Tampa Bay (Jan. 17) and at the NY Islanders (Jan. 31).

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks second in the NHL averaging 27:43 of ice time per game and has 11 points (6-5-11) with a +6 rating in his last 16 games played.

3. Florida's goaltending tandem of Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson places ninth in the NHL with a 2.64 GAA and tied for second with a .922 save percentage.
