5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panthers open a three game homestand tonight when they host the Carolina Hurricanes. After tonight, the Panthers play the Atlanta Thrashers on Jan. 10 and the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 16. Tonight’s game also marks the mid-point of the season for the Cats, with the club having played 17 games at home and 24 on the road.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks second in the NHL averaging 27:38 of ice time per game and has 13 points (6-7-13) with a +6 rating in his last 20 games played.

3. C Michael Frolik ranks 10th among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 17 points (8-9-17). In addition, Frolik places tied for fourth among rookie leaders with 67 shots on goal.

2. LW David Booth has recorded 10 points (4-6-10) in his last eight games played and paces the Panthers with 16 goals. He also currently has a career high six-game point (4-5-9) scoring streak in tact.
