5 Things To Know: Panthers vs Capitals

5. The Florida Panther have posted a 12-3-3 mark since Jan. 1, earning points in 15 of their last 18 games and currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 64 points. Six of the Panthers next eight games will be played against division leaders, with contests against Southeast Division leaders the Washington Capitals two times (Feb. 15 & Mar. 1), Northeast Division leaders the Boston Bruins twice (Feb. 21 & Feb. 24) and the Atlantic Division leaders the New Jersey Devils twice (Feb. 17 & Feb. 28). Florida is currently riding a season-high five game home winning streak (Jan. 27-Feb. 13).

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks first in the NHL averaging 27:20 of ice time per game and has recorded nine points (6-3-9) in his last 15 games played. With his 50th goal of his NHL career on Thursday, Feb. 5, Bouwmeester became just the second Panthers defenseman to record 50 tallies while playing for the Cats, joining Robert Svehla (61).

3. The Panthers goaltending tandem of Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson ranks sixth in the NHL with 2.58 GAA and places third with a .922 save percentage. Vokoun has started the last five games for the Panthers posting a 4-1 mark and has earned wins in each of his last three games played. Additionally, the duo of Vokoun and Anderson has combined for a 7-1-2 record when they face 40 or more shots.

The Panthers place second in the NHL with 12 different players (Booth, Weiss, Horton, Bouwmeester, Stillman, Frolik, Campbell, Dvorak, McCabe, Peltonen, Ballard, Zednik) on their roster who have recorded at least 20 or more points. Florida also places tied for second in the NHL with eight different players who have recorded at least 10 goals (Booth, Horton, Stillman, Bouwmeester, Campbell, Frolik, McCabe, Zednik).

RW Richard Zednik has recorded six points (4-2-6) with a +6 rating in his last five games played, netting the shootout game-deciding goal on Friday, Feb. 13 in Florida's 2-1 win over the NY Rangers, as well as the game-winning goal in the Panthers 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Toronto on Tuesday, Feb. 10. C Stephen Weiss has recorded 11 points (2-9-11) with a +4 rating in his last 15 games played and paces the team with 37 points (9-28-37). LW David Booth has recorded 21 points (8-13-21) in his last 23 games played and leads the Panthers with 20 goals.
