5 Things To Know: Panthers vs Blackhawks

5. The Florida Panthers have posted a 13-4-3 mark since Jan. 1, earning points in 16 of their last 20 games and currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 66 points. The Panthers play their fourth game of a five-game homestand tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks. Four of the Panthers next six games will be played against division leaders, with contests against the Northeast Division leaders the Boston Bruins twice (Feb. 21 & Feb. 24), the Atlantic Division leaders the New Jersey Devils (Feb. 28) and the Southeast division leaders the Washingon Capitals (Mar. 1). The Panthers complete their five-game home stretch with a game against Boston on Saturday, Feb. 21.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks first in the NHL averaging 27:16 of ice time per game and ranks 22nd among NHL league leaders with 30 points (12-18-30). He has recorded nine points (6-3-9) in his last 17 games played. With his 50th goal of his NHL career on Thursday, Feb. 5, Bouwmeester became just the second Panthers defenseman to record 50 tallies while playing for the Cats, joining Robert Svehla (61).

3. The Panthers goaltending tandem of Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson ranks sixth in the NHL with 2.56 GAA and places tied for second with a .923 save percentage. Vokoun has started the last seven games for the Panthers posting a 5-2 mark with two shutouts. Additionally, the duo of Vokoun and Anderson has combined for a 7-1-2 record when they face 40 or more shots.

The Panthers place tied for first in the NHL with nine different players who have recorded at least 10 goals (Booth, Horton, Stillman, Bouwmeester, Campbell, Frolik, McCabe, Zednik, Weiss) and second in the NHL with 12 different players who have recorded at least 20 points (Booth, Weiss, Horton, Bouwmeester, Stillman, Frolik, Campbell, Dvorak, McCabe, Peltonen, Ballard, Zednik).

RW Richard Zednik has recorded seven points (4-3-7) with a +7 rating in his last seven games played, netting the shootout game-deciding goal on Friday, Feb. 13 in Florida's 2-1 win over the NY Rangers, as well as the game-winning goal in the Panthers 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Toronto on Tuesday, Feb. 10. C Stephen Weiss has recorded 15 points (3-12-15) with a +6 rating in his last 17 games played and paces the team with 41 points (10-31-41). LW David Booth has recorded 23 points (8-15-23) in his last 25 games played and leads the Panthers with 20 goals.
