Event Raises Over $150,000 for Florida Panthers Foundation

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers Foundation raised over $150,000 for local charities during last night’s 2nd Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night presented by Publix Supermarkets at the BankAtlantic Center. The event, which was co-presented by BankAtlantic, Lexus, the Miami Herald, Sziro Jewelers and Millennium Laser Eye Centers, was the premier charity event of the year for the Florida Panthers Foundation.

With Florida Panthers players working as dealers, over 500 guests attended the over the top Las Vegas-style event, chaired by general manager and head coach Jacques Martin.

“The 2nd Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night was an even bigger success in 2007 thanks to the phenomenal support from our players, coaches, sponsors and fans,” said Alaina Miller, Executive Director of the Panthers Foundation. “The Panthers continue to be the community leaders among professional sports franchises in South Florida and Ice & Dice is just further proof of that.”

“All of my fellow Panthers teammates, coaches and staff members were proud to donate their time to a worthwhile event such as Ice & Dice,’ said Panthers Captain Olli Jokinen. “While success on the ice is our goal, it is just as important to support the South Florida community with great events such as this one.”

“Ice and Dice was a first class event -- an event Publix was proud to sponsor,” said Gary Correll, Director of Marketing for Publix. “At the end of the night, it's all about the kids. That's why Publix and the Panthers make such a great team. We're both focused on building a better future for the children of South Florida.”

Over the past year the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated Florida Panthers game tickets and auction items including team-signed jerseys and sticks and Zamboni rides to various South Florida charities. Recipients include: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Broward County, American Cancer Society, JAFCO, Homestead Air Reserve, Soref JCC, Boys & Girls Club, Miami Disadvantaged Youth, Dept. of Naval Science, American Jewish Community, City of Plantation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, H.O.P.E., Camelot Community Center, Stellar Kids and the Andy Roddick Foundation.
