FloridaPanthers.com caught up with F Jonathan Huberdeau who is playing for Team Canada at the World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.
Huberdeau picked up an assist in Canada’s 6-1 win over Italy on Friday and has recorded points (1-2-3) in three straight games and has a plus-5 rating in five games played.
“When we arrived you have a little bit of jet lag, but you kind of get used to it. That is why the plane ride was really good because we had some time to catch up on our sleep and now we are all adjusted to the time here.
I am rooming with (Vancouver's) Alex Burrows. We are both French guys together so that’s cool that they put us together. He’s a really good guy, I didn’t know him before.
I knew a few of the guys, like (Winnipeg's) Mark Scheifele and (Colorado's) Nathan MacKinnon, all the young guys, but the older guys I didn’t really know them. I kind of got to know them over the last week or so, we’re all a team together and I think we’ll all have a good time.
We have has a pretty busy schedule but when we have a day off we explore a little bit and take some pictures.
I think our line (Sean Monahan & Joel Ward) is going pretty well right now. I think we’re just trying to keep it simple and that’s what we’re doing. If we are good defensively things will come offensively. We need to keep cycling in the offensive zone and find open space in the slot. Ward is playing well and we are just trying to get him the puck.”
