  Scott Glennie

The Lowdown:
   6-1, 182
   Right wing
   DOB: 2-22-91 – Oakville, Ontario
   Brandon (Western Hockey League)
Final rank: 7. Midterm rank: 12.

The Shinny:
Had 70 points (28 goals) in 55 games, leading Brandon with a 1.27 points-per-game average. Nine of those 28 goals were game winners, placing him third in the WHL. Paired up with linemate Brayden Schenn to win gold for Team Canada at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament. Was fifth in the WHL in 2007-08 in rookie scoring with 58 points (26 goals). Prior to joining Brandon scored 31 goals in 38 games with the Winnipeg Wild Midget AAA and was selected team’s MVP. Childhood hockey hero? Mario Lemieux. “He was fun to watch and one of the greatest players of all time.”

NHL Central Scouting’s E.J. McGuire: “Scott Glennie was mislabeled earlier in the year as perhaps being only a finisher for often linemate Brayden Schenn. Yet, Scott took matters into his own hands with an equal number of goals and assists and contributed greatly this season with a power-forward type attitude. Glennie might remind the fan of NHL players with power forward abilities coming off the wall like Jonathan Cheechoo and Jonathan Toews – that kind of offensive ability.”

Brandon coach Kelly McCrimmon: “Scott is a gifted offensive player. He is a tremendous skater, an excellent puck handler, and scores many different ways. He has huge upside.”

Glennie on Glennie: “Lately, actually, a few of the guys on my team told me I play like Ales Hemsky. I think I do play a little like him, just the way he skates around out there, sees the ice. He’s got a great shot and makes plays.”
