2008 NHL Draft: Tyler Myers

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
Leading up to the 2008 draft, will be highlighting some of the top prospects to look out for. Could the Panthers draft one of these players with their pick in the second round or might they move up to grab one of these top players to further bolster their system and hope they contribute to the big club one day?

Each week day, we'll take a look at three prospects and get Panthers Director of Amateur Scouting Scott Luce's opinion on each of them.

Texas native who moved to Alberta is tallest North American player at the draft. Selected to represent Team Canada at Under-18 World Championships in April after having represented US in international events. Participated in 2008 CHL Top Prospects Games. Patterns game after Chris Pronger.

Not often burned by the small, quick players and, because of the emphasis in today’s NHL on a lack of restraining type of play, Myers is more ready to play in NHL than a lot of the other smaller players. Needs to continue to mature. Height translates into great poke-check and stick work.

Chara-like size and skill. Has a high ceiling to his game.
