EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers have signed defenceman Max Wanner to a three-year entry-level contract.
The 19-year-old right-shot blueliner recently returned to the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League after attending both Oilers Rookie Camp and Training Camp. He played 13:24 in his pre-season debut against the Kraken in Seattle on Monday, Sept. 26.
The Estevan, Sask., native appeared in 55 games for the Warriors last year, recording six goals and 17 assists along with 53 penalty minutes in his second season with the club.
Selected by the Oilers in the seventh round (212th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Wanner (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) has played 77 career WHL games with 26 points (6G, 20A) and 65 penalty minutes.
