It was a packed schedule for the Oilers organization in the week that was June 18-24.
The 2017 NHL Awards and Expansion Draft were held Wednesday in Las Vegas while the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago started Friday.
On Thursday, the Oilers acquired forward Ryan Strome from the New York Islanders in exchange for Jordan Eberle. Edmonton also signed defenceman Kris Russell to a four-year contract on Friday.

2017 NHL AWARDS AND EXPANSION DRAFT

The 2017 NHL Awards and Expansion Draft were held Tuesday and Wednesday in Las Vegas. The event started with the NHL and adidas uniform unveil and some brief media avails. As for the Awards themselves, Connor McDavid left with his hands full, earning the Hart Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and Art Ross Trophy. He headlined the NHL's First All-Star Team and was also announced the cover athlete for EA Sports NHL 18. The Expansion Draft saw Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee select defenceman Griffin Reinhart from the Oilers.

PROSPECTS AT THE PARK

Meanwhile in Chicago, Ill, as the Draft approached, some of the top prospects were welcomed to a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Brandon Wheat Kings centre Nolan Patrick threw the ceremonial first pitch.

Some big news developed on Thursday as the Oilers traded Jordan Eberle to the New York Islanders in exchange for Ryan Strome.
