FIRST PERIOD

15:16: Almost five minutes in, shots on goal are two apiece.

8:16: Neither team has had a real bona fide scoring chance. Oilers are outshooting Arizona 6-3. Jordan Eberle heads off the ice and into the dressing room with an undiclosed injury.  6:10: The best scoring chance of the game came when Connor McDavid set up Griffin Reinhart in the slot. Reinhart had all the time in the world and fired a shot between the circles. It was kicked out by Coyotes goaltender Anders Lindback. Lindback also had to make a save on the rebound off Reinhart. 0.0: Shot count after one period was 11-6 for Edmonton.

SECOND PERIOD

Period two starts now.

14:18: Matthias Plachta takes the game's first penalty -- tripping -- sending the Oilers on the power play.

10:57: Nilsson made a nice save on a redirection by Coyotes centre Max Domi. 10:36: Ben Scrivens comes into the game for the Oilers, replacing Nilsson. Nilsson stopped all 11 shots he faced. 7:30: Shots are now 19-11 for Edmonton.

6:05: Edmonton went on the power play for the second time. Michael Stone went to the box for two minutes after holding Slepyshev behind the Coyotes net.

3:58: Oilers break the goose egg moments after the penalty to Domi expired. Slepyshev made a quick backhand pass over to Lander who snapped it home for the goal. | EDM 1, ARI 0

1:26: Former Oil King Henrik Samuelsson took a penalty for slashing, giving Edmonton its third power play of the period and game.

0:06: With six seconds to go in the middle frame, Nik Nikitin blasted a shot from the point that went wide behind the Coyotes net. Anton Lander grabbed the puck on the ricochet and banked it off the back of Lindback's pads and in. | EDM 2, ARI 0

0.0: Shots after 40 minutes are 22-12 for the Oilers.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00:
Period three is now underway.

17:49: Anton Lander wired a shot top left corner from the left circle past Lindback, completing the natural hat trick. Slepyshev got the first assist, McDavid the second. | EDM 3, ARI 0

17:35: 14 seconds after the goal, Brandon Davidson received two minutes for tripping, giving Arizona its first power play.

10:45: Davidson wired a shot off the post from the left point. Shots are 24-14 Oilers.

8:54: McDavid skated full tilt into the Coyotes zone on a breakaway and made a quick deke move but lost his footing. Lindback made a nice save on the play.

8:33: Stefan Elliott took a holding penalty, sending the Oilers on another man advantage.

4:47: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins neatly wired a shot from the right circle by Lindback to extend the Oilers lead to four goals. | EDM 4, ARI 0
