Khabibulin Stacks Up

With the game on the line against the Anaheim Ducks, Nikolai Khabibulin stole the show.

A goal by Anaheim's Corey Perry would have ended the game, but Edmonton's goaltender was patient as he waited out the Ducks sniper. Although Perry made a wonderful deke on a play,  one final effort with Khabibulin's pad was the difference; a tremendous showcase of strength, skill and determination to send the shootout to another round.

Eberle Dazzles

The Oilers opted to go first in Friday night's shootout with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Jordan Eberle kicked off the skills competition in style.

In a move similar to Sam Gagner's old trademark, Eberle danced with some fancy footwork in the slot, faked to the backhand, and tucked the puck home past a sprawling Dan Ellis.

Omark & The Spin-O-Rama

Linus Omark arrived in the NHL with a bang. It would be difficult to find a better first career shootout goal than his showcase of creativity, imagination and confidence Friday night against the Lightning.

With the opportunity to end the game with a goal, Omark did something out of the ordinary. After collecting the puck at centre ice, Omark performed a 360 in the neutral zone before coming in on Lightning goaltender Dan Ellis. Omark then faked a slapshot and quickly snapped a wrister five-hole to send Rexall Place into a frenzy.
