RELEASE: Oilers recall Patrick Russell

The Oilers have recalled forward Patrick Russell from the American League's (AHL) Bakersfield Condors

EDMONTON, AB - Russell, 25, has played in 11 games with the Condors this season, posting nine points (4G, 5A), four penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating.

The 6'1", 205-pound forward has appeared in 147 career AHL games with Bakersfield, recording 53 points (26G, 27A) and 74 penalty minutes.

The native of Bickerod, Denmark, represented his country at the 2018 World Hockey Championship in Denmark, marking his second world championship appearance (2017, 2018). Russell also played for his country at two Under 18 World Hockey Championships (2010, 2011) and two World Junior Hockey Championships (2011, 2013).

Russell joined the Oilers organization in 2016-17, signing as an undrafted free agent after two years at St. Cloud State University.

Marody, 21, has played two games with the Oilers this season, including his first career NHL game on October 23 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
 
The 6'0", 184-pound forward has appeared in seven games with Bakersfield this season, posting 10 points (3G, 7A) and four penalty minutes. Marody has notched 13 points (4G, 9A) in 10 career AHL games.  
 
Marody was acquired in a trade on March 21, 2018 with Philadelphia.

Bouchard appeared in seven games for the Oilers this season, scoring one goal

The Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenceman Evan Bouchard to the OHL's London Knights. 
 
Bouchard, 19, appeared in seven games for the Oilers this season, scoring his first NHL goal on October 25, 2018 against Washington. The native of Oakville, ON was the Oilers' first round pick, 10th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft.
 
The Oilers have also recalled defenceman Kevin Gravel to Bakersfield (AHL). 
 
Gravel, 26, has played five games with Bakersfield (AHL) this year, posting one assist. The native of Kingsford, MI appeared in two games with Edmonton earlier this season, posting no points in two games.

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have recalled forward Cooper Marody from the American Hockey League's (AHL) Bakersfield Condors. 

Marody, 21, has appeared in five games with the Condors this season, posting six points (2G, 4A) and two penalty minutes.

The 6'0", 190-pound forward has played in eight career AHL games, recording nine points (3G, 6A) and four penalty minutes. 

Marody was originally selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round, 158th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. Marody was acquired by the Oilers on March 21, 2018 from the Flyers in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2019.

The Edmonton Oilers have also placed forward Ty Rattie on injured reserve.

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Kevin Gravel from the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Kevin Gravel from the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors.
 
Gravel, 26, has appeared in four games with the Condors this season, posting one assist and a +1 plus/minus rating.  
 
The 6'4", 212-pound defenceman, has played in 70 career NHL games, recording 10 points (1G, 9A) and eight penalty minutes.
 
Gravel was originally selected by Los Angeles in the fifth round, 148th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft. Gravel was signed by the Oilers as a free agent on July 1, 2018.
 
The Edmonton Oilers have also placed defenceman Matt Benning on injured reserve.

Russell, 31, played in 78 games with the Oilers last season, notching 21 points (4G, 17A) and eight penalty minutes, while leading the league with 223 blocked shots. 

The Oilers also announced they have assigned defenceman Ethan Bear to the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors.

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenceman Andrej Sekera on Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). The Oilers have also recalled defenceman Ethan Bear from Bakersfield (AHL).

Bear, 21, appeared in 18 games with Edmonton in 2017-18, posting four points (1G, 3A). The native of Ochapowace, SK split his first professional season between Bakersfield (AHL) and Edmonton (NHL). 

The 5'11", 197-pound defenceman was Bakersfield's top scoring defenceman in his rookie professional season, posting 18 points (6G, 12A) in only 37 games.

Oilers sign Alex Chiasson and Jason Garrison to one-year NHL contracts; assign Ethan Bear to Bakersfield (AHL) and place Kris Russell on Injured Reserve

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Alex Chiasson and defenceman Jason Garrison to one-year NHL contracts.

Chiasson, 28, played for the Washington Capitals in 2017-18, posting 18 points (9G, 9A), 26 penalty minutes and a +1 plus-minus rating in 61 regular season games. The 6'3", 204-pound forward also appeared in 16 playoff games, posting two points (1G, 1A), four penalty minutes and an even plus-minus rating, helping the Capitals to the franchise's first Stanley Cup. The native of Montreal, QC has appeared in 381 NHL regular season games over six seasons with Dallas, Ottawa, Calgary and Washington.

Garrison, 33, appeared in eight games for the Vegas Golden Knights last season, posting one assist, four penalty minutes and a -2 plus-minus rating. The 6'1", 220-pound defenceman spent the balance of the 2017-18 season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, where he posted 28 points (8G, 20A), 26 penalty minutes and a +8 plus-minus rating. The native of White Rock, BC, has appeared in 538 NHL regular season games over ten seasons with Florida, Vancouver, Tampa Bay and Vegas.

The Oilers also assigned defenceman Ethan Bear to Bakersfield (AHL) and placed defenceman Kris Russell on Injured Reserve.

The Anaheim Ducks have claimed forward Pontus Aberg from the Oilers

EDMONTON, AB - Forward Pontus Aberg has been claimed by the Anaheim Ducks.

The 2012 second-rounder appeared in 53 games in the 2017-18 season, splitting time between the Nashville Predators and Oilers.

Aberg scored two goals and six assists in 16 games with the Orange & Blue.

Edmonton waived the 25-year-old for the purpose of reassignment on Sunday.
