(Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oilers and Rexall Sports Corporation are pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Shipton to the position of Vice President of Communications. Bringing a wealth of experience that spans the private, government and not-for-profit sectors, Tim joins the organization from his most recent position as President of the Alberta Enterprise Group, held since 2007.
In his new role at Rexall Sports, Tim will oversee in-house media production entities for Alberta’s largest-volume sports media voice, the Edmonton Oilers. His direct responsibilities will include overseeing content for EdmontonOilers.com and related company websites, along with all facets of the team’s social media channels, active 24/7 to engage Oilers fans across the world. Tim will also act as the lead liaison with Canadian news media on behalf of Rexall Sports.
In addition, Tim will also be responsible for content management of all Oilers live media, including the Oilers on Sportsnet television broadcasts presented by Rogers, the Oilers on 630 CHED radio broadcasts presented by the Ford Dealers of Alberta and Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer, which airs weekdays on 630 CHED. Finally, Tim will help foster the organization’s strong community relationships initiatives across Oil Country.

A native of Oil Country, Tim is known for his highly entrepreneurial and collaborative leadership style and has successfully led teams to deliver results. His work in telling the Alberta story across Canada and around the world has earned him Top 40 Under 40 honours from Avenue Magazine and he was named a Rising Star by Oilweek Magazine.
