Oilers Director of Player Personnel Bob Green met with the media following rounds 2-7 of the 2017 NHL Draft. Here are a few of the quotes from that availability.

ON TRADING UP FOR STUART SKINNER

"We really like him, obviously. Dustin (Schwartz) and Sylvain (Rodrigue) saw him at the Hockey Canada Development Camp last week and really liked him there. We've liked him all year. He's played a lot, he's played three years in the WHL and has played a lot of games.
"Nobody ever complains about having too many good goalies. I don't think you could have enough. You've got to have good depth there. It's a really important position as everybody knows."

ON THE SELECTION OF DMITRI SAMORUKOV

"We saw him play in Guelph this year and he's a good skater, he is a nice-sized kid. He skates well, moves the puck really well. He had a really good U-18. We thought he took over the games over there a little more offensively. He tried to push the game a little bit more on the power play, so that was impressive. He's not a real physical guy, but he likes to step up and if he sees opportunities, he can make big, open-ice hits and we like that about him as well."

ON WHAT THEY SEE IN OSTAP SAFIN

"He's a big guy that can skate. He can really shoot the puck. He's a little inconsistent in his game sometimes, but we saw him a lot this year… We just like the way he plays the game and he's got a lot of physical tools. He's a big kid."

ON THE ROUND ONE SELECTION OF KAILER YAMAMOTO

"We were happy, there was no doubt about it. We spent a lot of time with Kailer and really liked him. Obviously, his game is what it is. When you watch him there's so much to his game. Everybody probably looks at his size and those guys have got to have certain attributes for sure. They've got to be able to skate, they have to have elite skill, elite skating ability, elite hockey sense and he's got all those things. He'll be able to play with good players and he's just a dynamic hockey player."

ON THE GROWTH OF KIRILL MAKSIMOV IN NIAGARA

"Opportunity to play, for the most part. In Saginaw, he was a little bit stymied there I think. He went to Niagara and kind of came out of his shell and then he had a pretty good worlds as well. He's got some things to work on. His feet have got to get a little quicker, but he's got good size, good skill and he can finish."
