Team Canada forward Steven Stamkos is no stranger to International competition and wearing the uniform of his home country. Now Stamkos gets a chance to wear that sweater for Canada in Canada.
The host country always has added pressure to perform in these types of tournaments and Stamkos recognizes that. But he also says any nerves about said pressure get eased with the presence of players who have done it before.
"There's pressure, especially playing in Canada," Stamkos said. "But being around the guys for this last 10 days or whatever, it's a calm and collected group. You look at the guys who have been there for numerous years and numerous gold medals and have had a chance tor represent Canada in Canada and win, for a guy who hasn't had that chance yet it's pretty calming knowing and seeing the guys that you're surrounded by and just how at ease they are. You know that if we play the right way it's pretty much win or nothing for this group, and they're comfortable playing that way."
