Super busy week in the world of Oil Country social media! We’re gearing up for Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow, with tons of prizes to be won both at the game and on our social channels, so stay tuned! We also launched a new contest with Fed Ex and continued our second annual #BrickBestSeats
campaign. And, as always, we’ve got top GIFs of the week plus our fan spotlight. Enjoy!
If you like having a chance to win some awesome prizes, this is the most wonderful time of the year to be an Oilers fan on social media! It’s Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow as the Oil host Colorado, and on top of all the prizes we’re giving away at the game, we haven’t forgotten about our beloved fans all over the world. We’ve already filled an entire suite for the game with Facebook followers, and we’ll have multiple opportunities to win Tim Hortons
gift cards, signed player photos and pizza and wings for a year from Pizza 73
! Keep tabs on Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook to get in on the action.
We launched a brand new contest this week with our partner Fed Ex
, as they’re going to deliver a truck full of awesomeness (TV, pizza, gear) to one lucky fan’s house for the Saturday, March 26 road game against the Los Angeles Kings. Anyone in Canada (excluding Quebec) can enter and it’s as easy as telling us who you’d invite to your party by using the #FedExGameReady
Oilers fans across Alberta are flocking to Edmonton area The Brick
stores to snap their photos and enter the #BrickBestSeats
contest! We’ve named three winners thus far who have received VIP game night experiences and $1,000 to spend at The Brick, with two more to go. We’ll also pick a grand prize winner who will attend the final Oilers game at Rexall Place and receive $5,000 to spend at The Brick.
GIFS OF THE WEEK
The Oilers are enjoying a modest two-game win streak right now thanks to home victories over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday and Vancouver Canucks on Friday! Cam Talbot continues to be outstanding between the pipes, and he received some well deserved #HendyHugs
after the St. Louis game. And speaking of Matt Hendricks, the veteran provided the insurance marker last night, executing an awesome double fist-pump celebration from his knees.
OIL COUNTRY SPOTLIGHT
This week’s fan spotlight comes from a priceless in-game moment last night against the Canucks. A young Oilers fan was shown on the big screen with a sign that said, “Talbot, I’ll trade my little brother for your goalie stick.” Moments after securing his 40-save shutout, the goalie skated over and made the boy’s wish come true! And he didn’t even have to sacrifice his sibling!
