Welcome to another instalment of the Oil Country social media roundup! This week, we’re all set to honour the Canadian Armed Forces, we’re sending another fan on the road thanks to Air Canada and, as always, we feature our favourite GIFs and fan posts. Enjoy!
Tonight is the night! We’re both excited and honoured to host hundreds of military members for our annual Canadian Forces
Appreciation Night in partnership with Cenovus
, as the Oilers host the Arizona Coyotes. Keep tabs on and use the #ThankYouForces
hashtag today to help us honour our nation’s brave men and women. You could also win a signed warmup jersey and hat, as the Oilers will don pre-game camo for the first time in team history. Thank you for your support!
Earlier this season, our friends at Air Canada
sent Oilers fan Rick Carruthers and his dad to Montreal as the grand prize in the #ACFanFlight
contest. Now it’s time to do it again! Want to win a trip to watch the Oilers close out the season in Vancouver? All you have to do is tell us why you deserve it, via Twitter or Facebook!
HERE WE GO AGAIN! Comment below with your reason of why we should pick you to win a trip to watch the #Oilers close out the regular season against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, April 9 courtesy Air Canada.Posted by Edmonton Oilers on Friday, March 11, 2016
GIFS OF THE WEEK
The Oilers posted a pair of tight, scrappy, road victories over the past week, edging the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday and Minnesota Wild on Thursday, both by 2-1 margins. Cam Talbot was the star against the Jets with 39 saves, while Connor McDavid scored the clutch game-winner against the Wild, both immortalized in GIF form!
OIL COUNTRY SPOTLIGHT
The Oilers get one of their top players and fan favourites back in the lineup tonight as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is fully recovered from his hand injury and will play against the Coyotes. Oil Country celebrated the Nuge's return on social media and a few fans got themselves into our weekly spotlight! Get your photos into our spotlight by including @edmontonoilers
