Back for another week of the Oilers social media roundup! This week, we welcomed Connor McDavid back to the lineup, celebrated a pair of decisive victories, featured another Oil Country pet in support of the Edmonton Humane Society, and got in on all the Hockey Day In Canada festivities. Enjoy!
Though the game result wasn’t what the Oilers were hoping for on Saturday, fans from coast to coast celebrated our nation’s most treasured pastime with Scotiabank’s #HockeyDay
In Canada. Thank you to everyone across Oil Country who sent us photos! We’ve put together a montage of some of our favourites.
On the first Monday of every month, we’ve partnered with the preferred builder of the Oilers, Coventry Homes, to showcase our fans’ pets and raise funds for the Edmonton Humane Society. For every like, comment or share the featured photo gets on Facebook, and for every retweet and like it receives on Twitter, Coventry Homes will donate $1 to support EHS!
The goal for the season is $25,000, and Jody Sider's furry friend Storm helped us get closer to that target this week. Want your pet to be featured? Tweet your photo to @edmontonoilers
with the hashtag #OilersPets
, use that hashtag on Instagram or post your pic on our Facebook page
GIF OF THE WEEK
With two blowout victories vs. Columbus and Ottawa, there were plenty of awesome GIF moments to choose from this week! We’re picking our two favourites, though, starting with the reply of Connor McDavid’s early front-runner for goal of the year in the win over the Blue Jackets. Then, we highlight Darnell Nurse’s parents Richard and Cathy, who were cheering on their son as he posted a decisive victory in his fight with Ottawa’s Max McCormick on Thursday.
OIL COUNTRY SPOTLIGHT
Oilers fans were eagerly anticipating Connor McDavid’s return to the lineup for Tuesday’s game vs. Columbus, including Elena Ho, who had her daughter dressed up in her #97 shirt and posted this collage on Instagram. Thanks, Elena! You get our fan shout-out this week. Get your photos into our spotlight by including @edmontonoilers
