Welcome back to your weekly dose of Oil Country social media! We’re on the home stretch of our annual #HockeyTalks
mental health campaign, and on Thursday we celebrated a hugely-entertaining victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Enjoy this week’s roundup, Oilers fans!
Our fourth annual #HockeyTalks
campaign gears up this week as we get ready for next Saturday’s home game vs. Colorado. Over the past month, all Canadian NHL teams have been promoting mental health awareness and hosting game-night fundraisers for various mental health initiatives in their regions. If you’re coming to next Saturday’s game, bring $20 to purchase a player-signed hat, with proceeds supporting CASA Foundation
. Can’t make the game? Retweet the mental health facts we’ll be sharing throughout the week for a chance to win a signed hat.
GIF OF THE WEEK
Our featured GIFs this week commemorate an overdue achievement for Oilers forward Jordan Eberle! Thursday’s 5-2 win over Toronto was his 18th game scoring two goals, and he finally secured his first NHL hat-trick with an empty-netter. Not only did linemate Connor McDavid assist on the goal, he made sure to grab the puck for Eberle’s monumental goal.
Oilers fans were also quick to congratulate Jordan Eberle on his first-ever three-goal game!
OIL COUNTRY SPOTLIGHT
This week’s spotlight shines bright on the Oilers youth movement all over the world! Kevin Johnson got his new baby an Oilers jersey to grown into, Greg Rector is turning Haiti into Oil Country, Chris Cicchini made sure his son got some face time with his hockey hero, and Brad Evans has his son reppin’ #97 in Australia.
