What a week in Oil Country! After their longest road trip of the season, the Oilers are back on home ice and playing some great hockey with two big wins over Boston and Dallas. On top of that, we’re getting ready to honour Oilers legend Glen Sather with a banner-raising this week AND the holiday season is officially upon us! Enjoy this week’s social media round-up.

The man who played an integral role in all five Oilers Stanley Cup titles will have his name immortalized in the rafters on Friday. Glen Sather coached the team to their first four championships and was the President/GM for the fifth. He, along with some of his most valuable players, will be in attendance for the game against the New York Rangers as we raise Sather’s banner to the Rexall Place rafters.

Can’t make the game? No problem! The City of Edmonton is hosting a public celebration for Sather on Thursday at 12:15pm in the foyer of the Winspear Centre adjacent to Churchill Square. Oilers fans, we want you to be part of this historic celebration and share your memories or congrats for Slats on social by using #WelcomeHomeSlats. It’s going to be an amazing couple of days!

Check out the hashtag to see what Oilers legend Glenn Anderson had to say about his former bench boss in an interview on Thursday.

As the song goes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! How are you incorporating the Oilers into your holiday festivities? Send us your photos on Twitter and/or Instagram with #HockeyHolidays, or post them on our Facebook page! We’ll be sharing some of our favourites, and a few lucky fans will win an Oilers-themed holiday prize pack!

Boy, do we sure love to see our players jacked up after a big win! This week’s top GIF moments come from Matt Hendricks mauling goalie Anders Nilsson on Wednesday and Jordan Eberle amped after sniping home the OT winner on Friday. Got a GIF request? You can tweet them to me (@ryanfrankson) or @edmontonoilers, and we’ll do our best to make it happen!

There were a whole pile of “awww” moments happening in the crowd during our games this week! Melissa sent us a perfect video of her daughter cheering on the boys, it was ladies night in Toronto on Monday for Oilers fan Chelsey and her daughter, and Len had his mini-fans out in full force with him on Friday!

Get your photos into our spotlight by including @edmontonoilers in your tweets and Instagram posts, or posting them on our Facebook page.
