Rookie Camp: Day 1

by staff / Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton Oil Kings forward Brett Breitkreuz warms up on the bike before tackling the VO2-Max test during Day 1 of Oilers Rookie Camp at Rexall Place.
While most Edmontonians were enjoying a relaxing Sunday this long weekend, 27 young hockey players were completing various challenging -- and sometimes gruelling -- medical and physical tests as Oilers Rookie Camp opened at Rexall Place.

Among the players attending this year's rookie camp are 2008 first-round draft pick Jordan Eberle, 2009 draft picks Olivier Roy, Toni Rajala, and Cameron Abney, and Edmonton Oil Kings Torrie Jung, Adrian Van de Mosselaer, Brett Breitkreuz, Michael Burns, and Jeff Lee.

We spoke to Eberle and Breitkreuz after they completed their tests.

Tickets are still available for this Thursday's game between the Edmonton Oilers rookies and Vancouver Canucks rookies at the Leduc Recreation Centre.
