EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) announced today the annual Shirts Off Our Backs campaign presented by Rogers returns tonight when the Oilers face off against the Washington Capitals at Rogers Place.
Oilers fans in attendance at tonight's game will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to be entered to win a signed Oilers jersey. Following the game, winners will collect their signed jerseys on the ice directly from the corresponding Oilers player.
Net proceeds from the campaign will help the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton continue its mission to provide festive meals to Edmontonians in need this Christmas season, as well as 630 CHED Santas Anonymous in their commitment to bettering the lives of children in Edmonton by delivering the 'spirit of Christmas' to less fortunate families.
Returning this year as Honorary Co-Chairs for the Shirts Off Our Backs campaign are Oilers Legend and Hall of Fame Defencemen, Kevin Lowe, as well as spouses and partners of the Oilers players.
"It has been an especially challenging year for so many people across Oil Country and the support of organizations like the Christmas Bureau and Santas Anonymous is needed now more than ever," said Lowe. "The look of happiness and gratitude on the faces of those who receive a holiday meal or toy shows just how important this initiative is. The kindness and generosity of Oilers fans never ceases to amaze me, and we're all looking forward seeing it on full display once again tonight."
Since 1940, the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton has been providing festive meals to Edmonton families, seniors and individuals in need, while 630 CHED Santas Anonymous was founded in 1955 and their mission has always been to see every child receive a new toy at Christmas.
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the concourse of Rogers Place for $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20. Fans who purchase five or more raffle tickets will also be entered to win a team-signed jersey courtesy of Rogers.
