NASHVILLE, TN - The Edmonton Oilers have traded forwards Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin to the Detroit Red Wings in exchanged for future considerations.

The deal was announced Thursday during the second round of the NHL Draft in Nashville.

Yamamoto was selected 22nd overall by Edmonton at the 2017 NHL Draft and recorded 50 goals and 68 assists for 118 points in 244 career NHL regular season games. He also recorded three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 34 career playoff appearances with Edmonton.

The Oilers acquired Kostin from the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 9, 2022, and he scored 11 goals with 10 assists for 21 points in 57 games during the 2022-23 regular season. He also recorded three goals and two assists for five points in 12 post-season appearances with Edmonton.

Yamamoto has one season remaining on his two-year contract with a cap hit of $3.1 million, while Kostin will become a restricted free agent on July 1.
