EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman and alternate captain Darnell Nurse to an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $9.25 million, the team announced Friday. The contract will begin in the 2022-23 season.
The 2013 seventh-overall NHL Draft selection had a breakout 2020-21 season where he produced 16 goals, 20 assists and 36 points over 56 games.
The Hamilton, Ont. product tallied 15 even-strength goals (tops among all NHL blueliners) and 29 even-strength points, averaged 25:38 time on ice and held a plus-27 rating.
