EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Joseph Gambardella to a two-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season.
Gambardella, 25, has just completed his second full professional season with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Bakersfield Condors.
Gambardella recorded 48 points in 50 games in the 2018-19 regular season, scoring 29 goals and 19 assists while carrying a +19 plus-minus rating. He led Bakersfield in goals (48) and ranked third in team scoring. The native of Staten Island, NY also earned 10 points in 10 games in the post-season, scoring six goals and four assists, helping the Condors reach the second round of the Calder Cup playoffs. He has now appeared in 106 career AHL games, posting 70 points (43G, 27A), 35 penalty minutes and a +16 plus-minus rating.
The 5'10", 201-pound forward also appeared in 15 games with the Oilers at the end of the 2018-19 season, earning his first NHL point.
The Oilers originally signed Gambardella as an undrafted free agent on March 28, 2017, after four seasons with the NCAA's University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks.
