EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed free agent forward Josh Archibald to a one-year contract.
Archibald, 26, spent last season with the Arizona Coyotes, appearing in 68 games, recording 22 points (12G, 10A), 15 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating.
The 5'10", 176-pound forward has now appeared in 121 career NHL games with Arizona and Pittsburgh, posting 36 points (20G, 16A), 44 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating. In 2016-17, he won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh, appearing in four playoff games.
Archibald also spent time with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from 2013-2017, registering 64 points (32G, 32A), 170 penalty minutes and a +21 plus/minus rating in 188 career AHL games.
From Brainerd, Minnesota, Archibald played three seasons (2011-2014) at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA), notching 94 points (58G, 36A), 129 penalty minutes and a +23 plus/minus rating in 112 games. He also represented the U.S.A at the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championship, posting two assists and six penalty minutes in six games.
Archibald was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the sixth round, 174th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft.
