RELEASE: Oilers announce hockey operations staff updates

EDMONTON, AB -The Edmonton Oilers have announced several hockey operations updates.
The club has named Duncan Keith to a Player Development role, appointed Milan Tichy as Director of Amateur European Scouting and added Warren Rychel and Jason Pietrzykowski as pro scouts. Jeff Salajko has been added as goaltender scout while Christian Vermette joins the club's staff of amateur scouts.
The Oilers also promoted Kaite Doyle to Director, Team Services and Hockey Operations, added Tina Johnson as a nutrition consultant and welcomed Tania Kenny as an executive assistant in hockey operations.
Keith, the two-time Norris Trophy-winning defenceman who retired this past summer following a 17-year career, begins his first post-playing role with Edmonton. In his position as Player Development Consultant, the three-time Stanley Cup champion will visit with Oilers draft picks at the junior level and also spend time with the team's prospects in Bakersfield (AHL).
Tichy joins the Oilers after spending the past 23 seasons as a European scout with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He began his scouting career with the Nashville Predators in 1998 and served as Sports Manager of his former amateur club HC Plzen from 2008 to 2013.
Rychel, a veteran of 406 NHL games, begins his first official season with the club. Following his playing career, he moved into a scouting role with the then Phoenix Coyotes in 2000 and departed in 2006 after purchasing the OHL's Windsor Spitfires. The Spitfires enjoyed back-to-back Memorial Cup wins in 2009 and 2010, as well as 2017. After selling his interest in the Windsor franchise in 2019, he spent one season as head coach of the Barrie Colts.

Pietrzykowski begins his 14th season with the Oilers and first as a pro scout after most recently serving as a video assistant to current video coach Jeremy Coupal.
Salajko joins the Oilers following a seven-year stint as goaltending coach with the Detroit Red Wings (2016-22). He also spent three seasons as goalie coach for Detroit's AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids (2013-16) in addition to four seasons at Ohio State University. Born in Kitchener, Ont., Salajko was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in 1993.
Vermette begins his time in Edmonton after eight years with the Quebec Remparts, with whom he was the assistant general manager as well as head scout. A native of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Que., he started in the QMJHL as a scout for the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2005 before being promoted to head scout in 2013. He departed Saint John for the assistant GM position with the Remparts in 2014.
Doyle enters her fifth season with the Oilers after joining the organization in January 2019. She oversees all day-to-day functions of team operations and logistics at home and on the road, as well as player relations.
Johnson is currently a senior athletic performance and nutrition coach with Crash Conditioning and provides critical nutrition advice to Oilers players and training staff. A graduate of the University of Alberta (physical education), she holds a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Kenny spent the past eight years working in team services with Hockey Canada's National Women's Team, winning four gold medals including the 2021 and 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Prior to her time at Hockey Canada, the Toronto native led grassroots and high-performance female programming within BC Hockey. A two-time NCAA Division III champion, Kenney attended Middelbury College in Vermont.
