EDMONTON, AB - Oilers Entertainment Group released the following statement on Tuesday:

Oilers Entertainment Group expresses its heartfelt sympathy to those affected by the shocking discovery this past week of the remains of 215 Indigenous young people at the former site of a residential school in Kamloops.

We know this tragedy has had a devastating impact on so many in our community and is a stark reminder of the generational damage done to our Indigenous community by the residential schools policy.

While we express our shock, we are also reminded by this discovery and the recent experiences of Ethan Bear that so much work is still needed in order for our nation to truly seek truth and reconciliation.

To that end, OEG commits to working with our Indigenous communities on a real action plan so that our organization can do its part in advancing positive change and reconciliation.
